   Carousel was just finished two and a half months ago.  I started out as a chorus member, in the female ensemble.  But this year, our new director, Mrs. Strife, did something different: the lead roles have understudies (the second cast), and the second cast gets its own performance.  Well, the girl who played second Julie (lead female role) dropped out, and the part was left open.  Mrs. Strife later announced that she would be re-auditioning the other three girls who had originally been in the running for Julie: me, my best friend, and another friend of mine.  I ended up getting the part.  So my role this year was Julie in the second cast and still in the chorus in the first cast.  This was the biggest role I've ever had and and it was more fun than you can imagine.
