Thursday, December 30, 1999 - Day 9 Cast of characters: Sandy (45), Judy (45), Seth (17), Sara (15), Elana (11), Sandy's parents Ike and Beverly. All Disney veterans. We did a better job of getting out of the room today, leaving at 8:30. We wanted to go back to Animal Kingdom to finish up two things we didnt get to do yesterday - Kilamanjaro Safaris and Its Tough To Be A Bug. As we entered the park, we sent Seth ahead to get us fastpass tickets for the Safari. We caught up to him at the ride board. When he saw that the wait was only fifteen minutes, he made the wise decision to wait there for us. There wasnt even that much of a wait. There werent as many animals out this morning as weve seen in the past, but we did get to see the hippos, elephants and some other animals. After the Safari, we went to Its Tough To Be A Bug. There was a slight wait for it, but not that bad. We sat up front, next to a family we had chatted with on line who were seeing it for the first time. I love sitting next to first timers to get their reactions. We left Animal Kingdom and went back to the room. Since it was about lunch time, we checked out the menu at Big River Brewery. We werent as crazy about the choices, so we went to Spoodles. My dads stomach was bothering him, so we left him in the room to rest. After lunch the kids went swimming in the Luna pool, while I went to get gas. I passed up the Exxon on-site, thinking it would be more expensive and drove out to Rte 535 instead. I found out very quickly that there is no savings to going off-site, as prices were pretty much the same. I went back to the room and rested for a bit while the kids were still swimming. At 4:00, we went into EPCOT, leaving my mom to nurse my dad. Since today was our last day for our Annual Passes, we decided to buy one-day tickets for tomorrow, waiting to renew the APs after we got home. When we were getting ready to leave for this trip, Judy had only found one of the two 5-day hoppers that we had from our trip in 98. Nick, the CM who was selling us our passes at the International Gateway heard us talking about this and looked it up on the computer system. He was able to determine that we did in fact buy two 5-day hoppers in August 1998 and could even tell us that we had three days left. He tried to reissue the ticket for me, but for some reason, the system wouldnt let him. He really worked hard to help us out. He suggested we talk to guest services at the hotel where we bought the tickets, which happened to be where we were staying this trip. By the time we got through the gate, we didnt have much time to do anything, before meeting my mother at Cape May for dinner. So we went to American Adventure and did the Leave a Legacy, getting three photos, Judy and me, Sara and Elana, and Seth got his own. We arrived at Cape May at 6:00, a little past our priority seating time. My mom was waiting for us. My dad was still not feeling well and stayed back in the room. After dinner, we went back to EPCOT and into Futureworld. First we did Spaceship Earth, which at night is a walk on. Next we tried the new Journey Into Your Imagination. This is another new ride that has brought some strong feelings of dislike from recent guests. While I didnt react as strongly to it as I did to the Drew Carey Sound Show, I was unimpressed with it. It just didnt do anything for me. We had more fun in the activity area after the ride, sending postcards and talking to some CMs about the future of the pavilion. Apparently, they are still doing some construction upstairs, but the rumor is that they are private offices for Kodaks use. While inside Journey Into Your Imagination We heard the fireworks from Illuminations going off, which meant the park was closing, so we went against the flow and out the International Gateway and home.
