I woke up at 7:30am showered and took a walk to the Live Oak Lodge while the rest of the family slept. I traded three pins with Katrina a Vero Beach 2000 pin, a Walt Disney World Millennium pin and an Animal Kingdom pin. I had bought three sets of the Snow White and the Seven Dwarves movie pins off of eBay to use for trading and had already traded away four. From the lodge, I walked to Time To Go, hoping to get a cup of coffee and sit and read for awhile. I chatted with Tina at the activities desk and found out that since it was a slow week, Time To Go wasnt opening until 11:00. But, she was nice enough to call someone and got me a cup of coffee delivered to Broadcreek Mercantile. I sat down in the community hall and chatted awhile with Ann, a CM who was waiting for guests for her activity. Nobody showed up, so she left, leaving me with my coffee and book. By the time I finished my coffee, it was past 9:00, so I headed back to the room to get everyone up. The rest of the morning was a lazy one. The kids had signed up for the kayaking, se we headed over to Broadcreek Mercantile at 11:45. Their guide was Jim ("everyone on Hilton Head Island has to be named Jim".) Jerry and his son Zach joined the kids. Jim first took the group through the basics of kayaking, having them practice with their paddles on dry land. Then they got into the boats. Elana went with Seth and Sara went by herself. Judy and I watched them leave. Then we took a walk to the end of the pier to watch them for awhile. Judy and I headed upstairs to Time To Go to get some lunch. I had the Turkey wrap and Judy had a bagel with cream cheese. When we finished, we walked to Live Oak Lodge to take of some letters. Tammy was on duty now and we talked pins again. This time, I traded for a Tinkerbell (which I later found out was an error pin) and the Sleeping Beauty error pin. Here it was, only our second day in Hilton Head, and I was starting to get a sick feeling that I didnt bring enough pins to trade. Ive traded away six of the twenty-four pins I had to trade, and we werent even in the World yet. We went back to the room and Judy started to put together a casserole for later while I laid down for a short nap. The kids cam back at 2:00 and had to change into dry clothes. We decided to take in a 4:00 showing of Toy Story 2 at the Northridge Movies. The theater is quaint, much smaller than the theaters were used to. Its almost like sitting in your own private home theater. Hilton Head residents are also not prone to rushing out early to the movie as the theater didnt start to fill up until minutes before it started. After the movie, it was back home for dinner. While Judy heated it up, Elana and I walked over to Broadcreek Mercantile to rent some videos, hoping to see Toy Story. They didnt have it, so we rented Flubber and James and the Giant Peach. When dinner was finished, we went to Live Oak Lodge and played pool and checkers and enjoyed the hot cider that was put out for the guest. We finished the night, back at the room, watching one of the movies. |
