12 - Day 4
We were exhausted from E-Ride night, so we slept in. We had to make
a quick run to Goodings to pick up some cereal for me. We got to EPCOT at noon and headed
to the American Adventure. We usually never take time for the different performances
around the World Showcase, so this time I swore I would catch some. We sat in the rotunda
and listened to the Voices of Liberty. The performances are timed to act as a preshow for
the American Adventure show. In case you try to catch a performance, they face the ramp
going up. We found out too late, when we grabbed a spot on a bench that ended up facing
their backs. We didn't go to the show yet, instead, we caught the 1:00 performance of the
Spirit of America Fife and Drum Corps. I bought a turkey leg and munched on it while we
listened to them. I like fife and drums and wished they performed a little longer. While
sitting there, eating this huge turkey leg, an Israeli family approached me. The father
wanted to take a picture of him with me. I guess I must have looked like some character.
After I finished, we went back inside caught the next performance of the Voices of
Liberty. This time, we lucked out and found a bench facing them. They sing different songs
each performance. Once they finished, we went inside to see the American Adventure.
We then headed toward Japan and caught the Matsuriza drummers. We then headed to France to
take in Impressions de France. After the film was over, we took the Friendship across the
lagoon and walked to Horizons. As we passed Test Track, you could still hear the cars
whizzing around the track. When we got to the part of Horizons, where you pick your own
exit scene, ours was blank. We mentioned this to the CM as we got off and he let us ride
again.
There was a Bugle and Drum corps competition in EPCOT this week and some of the bands were
performing today. We got to hear the Rosemont, Illinois cavaliers and a band from Bergen
County, NJ. The bands finished off my marching around the World Showcase. After listening
for a while, we ducked into Innoventions and sent off some electronic postcards and email
to friends and family. We then took the Friendship back across the lagoon to Morocco for
dinner at Marrakesh. We fell in love with this restaurant when we ate there for lunch
during the Hidden Treasures tour last summer. Judy had the Jasmine Salad and the Vegetable
Couscous. I had the Seafood Bastilla and the Sultan's Sampler. The server finally got
tired of refilling my iced tea and left a pitcher for me.
After dinner, we again took the Friendship back across the lagoon to Futureworld. We went
to the Universe of Energy (I'll take fusion for $100, Alex). When we got out, it was
raining. Funny, the same thing happened last year. Then we rode Spaceship Earth and
finished off the day with the Land Ride.
