Day 7 - July 7, 2003

I woke up at 8:00am and ate my breakfast on the veranda while Judy slept.  I had ordered room service the night before, so that I could have coffee in the morning before anyone else got up.  I woke Judy at 9:00 and went down to the blue chairs on deck 4 to read for an hour while Judy got ready.  There were lots of joggers and walkers at this hour, I felt guilty that I wasn't one of them.

We got ready for brunch at Palo. Today was the brunch with the DIS group, that Jeanne arranged.  When we got upstairs, everyone was waiting and we were escorted to the private room in the back.  The group consisted of Shelley (sbennett) and Jay , Wendy (wendym) and mum, Doreen, Denise (eye R.N.) and Andy, and Amy (luv2boys) and Jesse.  Janine from South Africa,  was our server.  They had to take us in two groups for the tour of the buffet because there were so many of us.  I had the Eggs Julia, which is Eggs Benedict with smoked salmon instead of ham.  I have no idea what anyone else had, since I was enjoying my food and the conversation so much.  Since it was Wendy's birthday, Janine brought out a cake for her and we all sang happy birthday. Even though we only started meeting online in February and first met each other for real onboard, you would think we were all old friends.  We really had a great time.

We finally finished at 12:30 and I just barely made it to Rockin' Bar D for the Navigator Series  Making of the Disney Magic.  A short film was showing on how the Magic was built and then one of the engineers and first officers fielded questions.  I asked about the proposed changes in dry dock and the third ship. While I didn't get direct answers, was told that a third ship was in the plans, they just didn't have any dates or itineraries yet, and that there were to be some stateroom theme changes and some rooms would be reconfigured.

After the Navigator's Series, I went to the adult pool for a swim, We've been having wonderful weather and today was no exception.

Tonight was formal night and we were in Lumiere's. There were a lot of men in tuxedos, but many were dressed causally as well. I really like the APLAPLA rotation, because it places us in Lumiere's for formal and semi-formal night. Judy and Seth had the herb-crusted Sea Bass, the girls had the Cheese ravioli (and Elana with that white top!) and I had the Roasted Duck Breast.  I had arranged to have chocolate soufflés ordered from Palos, so the kids could experience them. We had to try the regular desserts too (there was a white chocolate dome with raspberry, crème brulée and apple crisp that we all shared. THEN Andrea brought out a cake for our 25th anniversary! This on top of the fact that I was still full from Palos brunch!  Needless to say, the cake was wrapped up and brought back to our room uneaten.

After dinner, we stood in line for formal pictures and then went to see Hercules the Muse-ical. I've seen this show four times now and the thing that makes it great is that they keep updating the script to make it current. There were references to American Idol (Clay and Ruben) and the Clara Harris incident among some of the more topical references.  A good Hades and Pain and Panic really make the show, and in this case they did.

After the show, we changed and went to the adult cabaret to hear Dan Riley. If he is ever on your cruise, do not miss him.  As Dan says, he takes other people's perfectly good songs and ruins them for profit.

After the show, we went to Beat Street and sat down to listen to Tom and Anton at Dueling Pianos.  These guys are very good, but I'm just not into it.  On other cruises, Dueling Pianos was funnier, but I really miss the Improv that DCL had back in the beginning.
