Wednesday, June 28, 2000 - Day 1 Cast of characters: Sandy (45), Judy (46), Seth (18), Sara (15), Elana (12). Disney Veterans. Seth and I were flying down on our own, since the girls went with their mother on the auto train. They had driven down Monday night to catch the train on Tuesday. Seth and I woke up at 5:00am and waited for the limo to arrive. He was late and I was starting to get nervous. We called the limo company and it turned out he had been sitting on the other side of our dead end. Some of the older county maps show our street connecting with the street on the other side, which was what caused the confusion. Despite the delay, we made good time, getting to the airport at 7:15am. I used the corporate check-in counter, which was empty and we were able to walk right onto the plane after arriving at the gate. The line for take-off was long, not surprising for the time of year. We got to Orlando at 10:30am and grabbed a Mears shuttle to Coronado Springs. The cost of the trip was $27 and was quite convenient. The bus wasn't full so Seth and I were able to spread out. We called Judy and found out the train was running late, so we went ahead and checked in. There was no line at all. After putting our stuff in the room, we went to the Pepper Market for dessert. Judy and the girls finally arrived at 3:15. They went swimming, while I took a short nap. After everyone showered and changed, we left the room at 6:30 for Downtown Disney and dinner at Planet Hollywood. Thanks to our DVC membership, we got seated right away. After dinner, we went to the movies. Since we couldn't decide on one movie, Seth and I went to see Shanghai Noon and the girls went in to see Dinosaur!. |
